”... take many looks at Me ...”

In which, you are bad, but wearing a snazzy outfit.

I have clothed you with garments of salvation. This robe of righteousness is yours forever and ever!

The emperors new clothes, now not just for emperors! Here's something that Jesus actually said about clothing:

Can worry make you live longer? Why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow. They don’t work hard to make their clothes. But I tell you that Solomon with all his wealth wasn’t as well clothed as one of them.

Maybe some of the worry we should shed is the constant threat of damnation? Is Jesus really a being who would forgive the sins of rape and murder... but not forgive the sin of failing to relate to a several thousand year old book?

Struggling to improve your conduct every day pays dividends in this life. That's my strategy. Who knows, if Jesus is a mensch maybe he will extend the forgiveness umbrella to cover some polite skepticism.

Sarah's Jesus really doesn't seem to care one way or the other, so long as you don't think very hard about it:

you don't need to be afraid to face your sins or to deal with them ... It is also essential to forgive yourself. ... you don't have to prove your worth by trying to be good enough ... there is no condemnation for those who follow Me.

This attitude doesn't pay dividends in this life. It's one of many reasons that dominion theology is a thing and why American Christianity has a white supremacy problem.
